Take-home PRP — how we extend your treatment into your daily routine

Most clinics throw away the residual PRP at the end of a treatment. We use it. Dr Chris on the take-home REGEN PRP Skincare Serum — your own biology, taken home, layered into your daily routine.

Most clinics finish a PRP session and throw away the residual. The patient leaves with a treated face and a relaxed shoulders feeling, the practitioner cleans up, the leftover plasma goes in the clinical waste, and that's that.

I never liked that. PRP is a finite, biologically active resource. The patient produced it. We're already using it once. There was no good reason — beyond inconvenience — not to find a way to extend its use into something the patient could keep using at home.

That's why we developed the REGEN PRP Skincare Serum.

What it actually is (briefly — the take-home product is included with PRP courses)

After your PRP treatment, the residual platelet-rich plasma — typically a few millilitres that wasn't required for the in-clinic procedure — is combined under sterile conditions with a clinical-grade base serum. The result is a personalised daily skincare layer that contains your own concentrated growth factors, formulated for daily home application.

It's stored frozen, used over the following four to six weeks, and applied as a serum in your morning or evening routine.

    Why it works

The growth factors and signalling molecules concentrated in PRP are not single-use. They have a biological half-life beyond the moments after injection, and they continue to influence cellular behaviour as long as they're delivered to receptive tissue. By extending the application — small, regular, topical exposure — the same biology that did meaningful work in clinic continues to support your skin in the weeks afterwards.

It's not a replacement for the in-clinic treatment. It's an extension of it.

    What it does in practice

In the days after a PRP treatment, the skin is in a heightened state of receptivity. Channels created by microneedling are still healing. Fibroblasts are activated. Inflammation is settling. Layering a topical that contains your own growth factors onto skin in that state produces a more sustained response than the single in-clinic exposure alone.

Patients describe the same improvements they'd expect from PRP — softer skin, improved tone, fewer surface concerns — appearing earlier and lasting longer when they use the take-home serum consistently for the four to six weeks following treatment.

Why almost nobody else does this

The reason most clinics don't extend PRP into a take-home product isn't that the science is unclear. It's that the operational logistics are tedious. You need sterile preparation conditions. You need stable cold-chain storage. You need a base serum formulation that's compatible with autologous biological material. You need clear labelling, controlled dispensing, and a patient who's willing to follow the protocol.

Most clinics don't bother because the marginal effort doesn't translate into a marginal product they can sell to other clients. The take-home serum is, by definition, only useful to the patient who produced the PRP. There's no commercial off-the-shelf version.

We bother because the result for the patient is meaningfully better, and because that bias — willingness to do the operationally harder thing if it produces a better outcome — is the kind of bias I want this clinic to be known for.

    Who gets it

The REGEN PRP Skincare Serum is included with every PRP course at REGEN — both PRP for Skin and PRP for Hair. Single-session patients receive a smaller volume; full-course patients receive a larger volume designed to bridge the four to six weeks between sessions.

It's not sold separately. It can't be — it depends on the patient's own residual plasma, which only exists if the patient has been treated.

    How to use it

A pea-sized amount, applied to clean skin, after any active serums (vitamin C, retinol) but before moisturiser, in the morning or the evening. Daily for the first two weeks; then every other day for the remaining period. Stored frozen until you're ready to use it; once thawed, kept refrigerated.

Patients with sensitive skin can layer it over a calming serum. Patients with active acne should let me know — we'd usually recommend evening-only use during a flare.

Where it fits in the REGEN Method

The take-home serum sits between the Generate pillar (the PRP treatment itself) and the Elevate pillar (your structured homecare). It bridges the two — the regenerative biology continues to act between sessions, supporting the work your homecare is doing on the surface.

    The honest closing

The take-home REGEN PRP Skincare Serum isn't a marketing add-on. It's a small piece of operational thoughtfulness applied to a treatment we believe in. For patients on a PRP course, it's part of the treatment plan. For patients considering PRP for the first time, it's one of several reasons we think we deliver a better result than the alternative.
