Profhilo: The Biostimulator That Works With Your Skin, Not Against It

In this article

Profhilo is one of the most misunderstood products in modern aesthetics. It looks like a filler. It is made of hyaluronic acid, just like many fillers. It is injected, like fillers. And yet it is not a filler — not in any clinically meaningful sense. Understanding the distinction is important, because it changes entirely how you should be thinking about it.

At REGEN Clinic, Profhilo is one of the most requested treatments we offer. Clients come having heard about it from friends, from social media, sometimes from their GP. Some come hoping it will replace filler. Some come uncertain whether it is appropriate for them at all. This guide is designed to give you an accurate, honest picture of what Profhilo is, what it does, and who it works best for.

    What Profhilo Is

Profhilo is classified as a biostimulator — a category of injectable that works by stimulating the body's own production of collagen and elastin, rather than simply adding volume to a specific area. It contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid of any injectable product available, but the hyaluronic acid in Profhilo behaves differently to that in a filler.

In a traditional dermal filler, hyaluronic acid is cross-linked — chemically modified so that it remains stable in one place, maintaining volume at the point of injection. Profhilo's hyaluronic acid is not cross-linked in the same way. Instead, it disperses through the tissue, spreading across a larger area and interacting with fibroblasts — the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin — to stimulate regeneration rather than simply fill.

The result is a genuine improvement in skin quality — firmness, hydration, elasticity — that comes from the skin producing more of its own structural proteins, rather than from an added substance maintaining volume temporarily.

    What Profhilo Treats

Profhilo's primary indication is skin quality rather than specific structural concerns. It is most effective for clients who notice that their skin looks or feels less firm, less elastic, or less hydrated than it once did — changes that often begin in the mid-thirties and become more pronounced through the forties and beyond.

The face and neck are the most commonly treated areas. Profhilo is particularly well-suited to the neck — an area that many clients want to address but where dermal filler is often inappropriate. The biostimulatory action of Profhilo does not require precise targeting of anatomical features; it improves the overall quality of the tissue it reaches.

It is also effective for the hands, décolleté, and inner arms — areas where skin quality decline is visible but structural augmentation is not the appropriate response.

It is not the right treatment for clients with significant volume loss, deep nasolabial folds, or structural concerns that require the lift and definition of a traditional filler. Profhilo improves the quality of what is there — it does not add what is not. In many cases, the most considered treatment plan uses Profhilo alongside a small amount of targeted filler, not instead of it.

    The Treatment Protocol

Profhilo is administered in a series of small injections at five specific points on each side of the face — a standardised bio aesthetic points (BAP) technique. These points are selected to allow the product to disperse most effectively through the tissue rather than remaining localised.

The treatment takes approximately 25 minutes. Topical anaesthetic is not usually required, though it can be applied on request. The injection sensation is brief at each point and most clients tolerate the treatment comfortably.

The standard protocol is two treatments spaced four weeks apart. The second session is essential — a single treatment produces improvement, but the full result of the protocol is achieved across both sessions. Most clients see meaningful improvement in skin quality and hydration at six to eight weeks after the first session.

Results typically last six to nine months. Annual or biannual maintenance sessions are recommended to sustain and build on the initial outcome.

    Profhilo at REGEN: Pricing

    Treatment Price
    Profhilo — Single treatment £400
Profhilo — Two treatments (one month apart) £750

We recommend booking the two-treatment course from the outset. The cost saving compared to two single bookings is modest, but more importantly, committing to both sessions from the start supports the treatment outcome — the second session is not optional for best results.

How Profhilo Fits the REGEN Method

Profhilo sits within the Generate pillar of the REGEN Method — the active regenerative treatment phase. Like PRP and polynucleotides, it works with the body's biology rather than supplementing it with an external structure.

It combines particularly well with polynucleotides in a sequenced plan — Profhilo addressing hydration and elasticity at the tissue level, polynucleotides supporting deeper cellular regeneration. For clients working through a REGEN Advanced or Signature plan, this combination is one Dr Chris commonly recommends.

As with all Generate-phase treatments, the outcome is influenced by the Elevate phase that supports it — a consistent, prescribed homecare routine that maintains the skin's barrier and provides the nutritional environment in which the collagen and elastin that Profhilo stimulates can form and be sustained.
