The Mother-to-Be Head Spa

Pregnancy is a time when rest matters most — and when so many treatments are suddenly off the table. The Mother-to-Be Head Spa is our answer: a calm, comforting ritual that gently eases the tension carried in the head, scalp, neck and shoulders, using pregnancy-safe products throughout.

Everything is kept gentle — from the products we choose to your position in the chair and the pressure of every massage — so you can simply switch off for a while.

Your ritual includes

A soothing scalp cleanse, a relaxing head and scalp massage, a gentle neck and shoulder release, our signature water halo and a nourishing scalp treatment, finished with a light blow-dry.

The Japanese Head Spa at REGEN

The Japanese Head Spa is REGEN's most distinctive wellness offering — a deeply therapeutic scalp care ritual that draws on Japanese tradition while integrating clinical-grade products and protocols. Unlike a standard hair treatment, the Head Spa addresses the scalp as the skin it is: cleansing, exfoliating, and nourishing it with the same care and intention applied to facial skin.

Every session begins with a thorough scalp assessment. Your therapist selects products and techniques based on your scalp's condition — whether oily, dry, sensitive, or experiencing thinning — and builds a treatment around what your scalp actually needs that day. OWAY professional products form the foundation of every session, with ZO Skin Health and Murad incorporated at the appropriate treatment levels. Add-ons — including LED therapy, bespoke masks and deep-conditioning hair treatments — can be added to any session: simply mention them when booking, or ask your therapist on the day.

Why scalp health matters

The scalp is often the most neglected area of skin on the body. Poor scalp health — blocked follicles, chronic dehydration, inflammation, and tension — affects hair quality, growth rate, and density over time. Regular Japanese Head Spa treatment improves circulation, clears the follicular environment, and addresses the physiological effects of stress that accumulate in the head, neck, and shoulders.

Questions

Japanese Head Spa — your questions answered

A Japanese-inspired, multi-step scalp ritual combining a deep cleanse, exfoliation, our signature water halo, oil scalp massage, conditioning and finishing care. It treats the scalp as the foundation of healthy hair and skin.

It is delivered in a clinical wellness setting using medical-grade scalp products, and built around the scalp-health approach used across REGEN. The 90 and 120-minute rituals also add a facial cleanse, mask, Gua Sha facial massage and ice globe therapy.

You will leave with clean, conditioned hair finished with a mini blow-dry or a simple plait. The 60, 90 and 120-minute treatments include hair finishing; the 45-minute ritual is finished but more lightly styled.

Yes — our Mother-to-Be Head Spa is designed for exactly this. It is a gentle, relaxing 75-minute treatment using pregnancy-safe products, available from the second trimester (13 weeks onwards).

As a sensible precaution, we do not offer the treatment during the first trimester. From 13 weeks onwards we are happy to welcome you, once your consent form is complete and you have spoken with your midwife or GP.

Two simple things: complete the short consent form we send after you book, and have a quick word with your midwife or GP to confirm you are happy to go ahead. We will guide you through both.

Yes. You will be comfortably semi-reclined and supported rather than flat, and you can adjust your position or pause at any time. Your therapist will check in with you throughout.

Absolutely — it is a lovely gift for someone expecting. She will simply need to be 13 weeks or more at the time of her appointment, complete the consent form and confirm with her midwife or GP, so timing stays flexible.

Yes. We offer a Couples Japanese Head Spa (two guests in adjacent rooms) and a Mini-Me & Me Head Spa for one parent and a child aged 8–16, both at our Norwich clinic.

FAQ

Japanese Head Spa — your questions answered

The questions clients most often ask before their first Head Spa.

What is a Japanese Head Spa?

A Japanese-inspired multi-step scalp ritual combining deep cleanse, exfoliation, the signature water halo, oil scalp massage, conditioning, and finishing care. It treats the scalp as the foundation of hair and skin health — not as an afterthought.

How is REGEN's Japanese Head Spa different from a salon head massage?

The treatment is delivered in a clinical wellness setting, using medical-grade scalp products, and built around the scalp-health science we use across our regenerative treatments. The 90 and 120-minute rituals add facial cleanse, mask, Gua Sha facial massage, and ice globe therapy — closer to a treatment than a pamper.

Is it suitable for sensitive scalp, hair loss or post-treatment scalps?

Generally yes, but sensitive scalp, active scalp conditions, or recent scalp procedures need a brief consultation first. Clients with diagnosed scalp conditions or who are mid-PRP-hair-therapy should book a Reveal Consultation rather than the Head Spa directly.

Will I leave with wet or styled hair?

You'll leave with clean, conditioned hair finished with a mini blow-dry or a simple plait. The 60, 90, and 120-minute treatments include hair finishing; the 45-minute ritual is shorter and leaves hair finished but more lightly styled.

How often should I have a Japanese Head Spa?

For maintenance, monthly is the standard recommendation. Clients addressing scalp health concerns often start with a fortnightly cadence for the first six weeks, then move to monthly. We adjust based on your scalp's response.

Is it safe in pregnancy?

The Japanese Head Spa is generally suitable in pregnancy from the second trimester onward, with positioning adjustments and a few product modifications. Please flag pregnancy when booking and we'll prepare accordingly.

Do you offer couples or family Japanese Head Spa bookings?

Yes. We offer a Couples Japanese Head Spa (two clients in adjacent treatment rooms) and a Mini-Me & Me Japanese Head Spa for parent and child. Both are bookable directly via the Norwich page.
